Dental Implants
Millions of Americans have missing teeth, and, unfortunately, many avoid going to the dentist to pursue tooth replacement options. Some may be embarrassed because the gaps in their smile are the result of poor dental hygiene, while others have dental anxiety and avoid the dentist at all costs because of past experiences.
However, at Roshe Dental, we offer caring, gentle tooth replacement without judgment because we believe everyone deserves to love their smile. Dental implants are a versatile tooth replacement option with multiple possibilities. We can replace one, several, or all of your teeth and restore the function and appearance of your smile.
What Is a Dental Implant?
Dr. Royzman is our dental team's periodontist and implant specialist who will create a treatment plan to replace your missing teeth. He will begin with 3-D cone beam CT scans that help him determine the exact location where your dental implants should be placed.
The dental implant process consists of three parts: the implant, the abutment, and the restoration. The implant is a titanium post placed into your jaw, acting as your tooth’s root. Once the implant goes through the healing process known as osseointegration and becomes part of your jawbone, we add the abutment and restoration.
The abutment is a connector that attaches the implant to the dental restoration. If you are replacing a single tooth, the restoration will likely be a dental crown. However, for several missing teeth, we can attach a dental bridge to two or more dental implants, and if all your teeth need to be replaced, we offer either All-on-4® dental implants or implant-supported dentures.
When you visit our dental office for a consultation, we can discuss which implant option best fits your needs.
The Importance of Replacing Missing Teeth
When you have missing teeth, it affects your oral and overall health in the following ways:
Biting and chewing – Missing teeth keep you from eating the healthy foods you love, which can affect your health. Also, your remaining teeth have to withstand additional biting force.
Shifting teeth – If you have a gap in your smile, your remaining teeth will shift into the open space. This can cause TMJ pain or misalignment.
Aesthetic appearance – Without a complete set of teeth, your face will begin to look sunken and older.
What Are the Advantages of Dental Implants in Mamaroneck?
Other than the natural-looking appearance of dental implants, we recommend dental implants as your best tooth replacement option because of their ability to:
Preserve Your Jawbone
Without dental implants, your jawbone begins to shrink where your teeth used to be. Dental implants preserve your jawbone health.
Preserve Your Remaining Teeth
For a traditional dental bridge, enamel from the adjacent teeth has to be removed for dental crown placement. With dental implants, your healthy teeth can be left alone.
Require Minimal Care
You will treat dental implants just like your natural teeth. All you have to do is brush and floss them regularly and visit your Mamaroneck dentist every six months for routine exams and cleanings.
